A Real Life MeFoto Tripod Audition and Review
The new small, light, low cost “travel” tripods that fit inside your camera bag are made to ride along with you everywhere and spring to life when you need them for photo and video. MeFoto is leading the way with two models, each in a variety of bright fun colors with matching small ball heads and priced right. Do they meet up to photo technology expert Will Crockett’s expectations? Can you use them with a pro DSLR, a pro mirrorless, or just a point and shoot?
Will Crockett has tested the MeFoto tripods in a variety of conditions to see if they are as sturdy and as portable as claimed, how big of a camera can be used under Real Life conditions, and what do pro photo clients think when a photographer shows up with a bright blue tripod?
Decide for yourself, in this Real Life Audition video from
DiscoverMirrorless’s “Coach” Will Crockett, if the popular MeFoto tripods are just a fad or if they are a break-thru solution for hybrid photographers to never again miss a shot because they forgot to bring a tripod.

I have yet to see these for sale in New Zealand but from the video, if I was Gitzo’s patent lawyer I’d be looking really closely – looks very like the Gitzo Traveller concept in how it works.
I do love the monopod conversion though – that is a genius idea.
I have to say that the independence of this review is somewhat compromised by the fact that MeFoto are now sponsoring vlog posts here..!
